Kimi K4 is the next large language model from Moonshot AI and the successor to Kimi K3, the 2.8-trillion-parameter mixture-of-experts model released in July 2026. Kimi K3.1 Pro, out since October 23, 2026, is Kimi K3 trained further; Kimi K4 is a new base model.
Kimi K4 is significantly larger than Kimi K3, trained on Nvidia Blackwell GPUs, and uses fewer active parameters per token, so it answers faster.

Kimi K4 is Moonshot's largest model so far: significantly larger than Kimi K3 with its 2.8 trillion parameters, and trained on Nvidia Blackwell GPUs. At the same time it uses fewer active parameters for each token than the 104 billion of Kimi K3, so its answers come faster.

Long context with Kimi Delta Attention
Kimi K4 is built on Kimi Delta Attention, Moonshot's linear attention, which keeps it fast on both short and long texts. At 1 million tokens of context it writes answers up to 6 times faster than full attention and needs up to 75% less memory for that context.
